This site is driven by HTML5, CSS3 and Javascript.

Testing

It's important that the site still be accessible to all kinds of browsers so I test everything with these:

BrowserWhy?
FirefoxGecko Engine, MacOS and GNU/Linux
ChromiumWebKit Engine, GNU/Linux
SafariWebKit Engine, MacOS
OperaAs used on Wii and Mobiles, also GNU/Linux and Mac
LynxText Mode, much like screen reader

Firefox I test on GNU/Linux (Debian) and MacOS X (10.4).

Chromium I test on GNU/Linux (Debian) and Safari on MacOS (10.4). The Free Software Chromium has replaced Google Chrome in my testing, it gives me a WebKit browser but without the Google service extras I don't need.

Opera I test on GNU/Linux (Debian), MacOS (10.4), Wii and Symbian (Nokia 6630).

Lynx I test on GNU/Linux (Debian).

In these tests I'm looking to see that all pages are readable, sensibly laid out and that on browsers with Javascript support all code works correctly.

Microsoft Internet Explorer: Currently I'm not testing against IE.

My old copy of Windows 98 will only go as far as IE6, which is horrible.

For the best web experience, IE users should try using Firefox, Chromium, Chrome, Safari or Opera.

I should test against IE, but it's not worth buying a modern version of Windows for and I don't know any IE users.

Chromium vs Google Chrome: Google Chrome is Google's branded version of the free browser Chromium.

Google are the developers behind both Chromium and Google Chrome. Google Chrome is a the version that includes Google specific and non-Free elements like h.264 and user metrics. Where Chromium is just the Free stuff.

Debian includes, as of 6.0/Squeeze, Chromium. Google Chrome doesn't include any extra features I need, so I've made the switch.
