The Bristolian Last-minute Action Game
This is a very simple RPG system I made up one Tuesday as I needed a quick game to fill in for a missing DM. I didn't want to make people roll up a character for one of the D20 systems as a one off as it would take far too long.
Anything to do with thinking
Strength, speed and other physicals
Social or charisma based stuff
Stuff that doesn't fit any of these
16 points to share about. Min 1, Max 8.
To succeed at Tasks, you need to pass Checks. To Pass a Check you need to roll your stat or under on a d10.
There are degrees of Pass and Fail. Pass by more than two is very good, Fail by more than two is very bad.
Some tasks require Characters to work together, more than one Character attempting the Task together is a Group Effort.
Every member of the Group make a Check, total up the numbers the Group Pass or Fail by. This way someone with a good stat can help the less able though difficult Tasks.
Each player gets 3 Pass counters per week, these can be used to automagically pass a test you've otherwise just failed.
You can freely gift your Pass Counters to other players.
There are no wounds or hit points, damage is based on common sense. If you fall off a 3' wall, you're going to be a bit bruised, if you fall off a 30' wall you're going to be badly hurt, if you fall off a 300' wall you're going to be dead.
All combat is done using opposed pushing checks. The amount you Pass the check by is your score. We are looking for the difference between the two scores.
| 0-1 | Struggle. | The battle continues. |
| 2+ | Victory! | You have defeated the enemy. |
Once you have achieved Victory, the foe is killed or captured, your choice.
