The Player Races

Dwarves

15% of the world player race population.

Dwarves live in city states inside mountains, though there are a few overland settlements and strongholds belonging to them also.

Dwarves tend to live in huge settlements of vast cave networks.

There are no Dwarf countries, but the cities and nearby surrounding lands are sovereign states.

Elves

20% of the world player race population.

Elves live in the great forests of the world, and until recently never left their forests.

Elves live in thinly populated but vast cities ruled over by the clerical caste.

There are many Elven countries, though their effective sovereignty ends at the forests edge.

Half-Elves

5% of the world player race population.

Half-Elves are an unusual but not uncommon sight on Livette, they tend slightly to live amongst humans (traditionalist elves are often deeply prejudiced against them).

Half-Elves have difficulty fitting in with either human or elven society, a great many become adventurers and a lucky few settle with another of their kind.

Half-Elves do not have any influence over any country, save for the Half-Elven Lord Scythia of Iriltide.

Half-Orcs

5% of the world player race population.

Half-Orcs are rarely greeted without at least a little temerity. They tend to live amongst humans (they are almost invariably the result of rape, though some are descended from other half-orcs).

Half-Orcs fit in well with whichever society they are raised in - despite the stigma of their birth they can be prized allies, and are often found in militias or armies.

Half-Orcs sometimes rise to rule an orc tribe (provided they are bought up in an Orc tribe) but very rarely gain any influence in human lands.

Halflings

5% of the world player race population.

Halflings are spread amongst many different tribes.

Halflings tend to live a nomadic lifestyle, occasionally found at the outskirts of other settlements working seasonal jobs or trading valuables.

Halflings have only one major permanent settlement, Mirage, in the middle of the Antrilian Steppes - most would consider the steps a Halfling country.

Humans

50% of the world player race population.

Humans are part of many different nations, but they are the undisputed masters of magic.

Humans tend to live in smaller settlements, though larger ones are not unknown.

The five major known human countries are Deshan, Bridmere, Dunmonia, Thet-Re and Djinnlaw.
