Battlefield Evolution: World at WarSat, 07 Jun 2008 11:34:17 GMT
Picked up yet another set of WWII rules, you can never have too many rulebooks can you?
I've been hearing nothing but positive things about the system for years and now I've finally grabbed a game based on it.
This WWII version was written by fellow Lead Adventurer, Agis Neugebauer.
World at War is based on the Starship Troopers game Andy Chambers worked on at Mongoose when he left GW.
I really like the very simple Reaction rules too. While more limited than the 2HW Chain Reaction system used in Nuts! and 5150, it keeps that "Oh shit, here they come" spirit.
We've had just the one quick game to get a grip on the rules and so far, so good.
It's a fast playing, big battles type game, less personal than Amazing War Stories, Nuts! or Legends and less complex than Rules of Engagement.
Could be just the big battles game we've been looking for.
Hardware wise, it's around 150 black and white pages, soft colour cover and £15 from Mongoose Publishing.
New pics of the WWII British ParasSun, 02 Mar 2008 23:29:43 GMT
A whole new set of pics of my British Paratroopers platoon uploaded today.
These were repainted for the western front from their old snow camouflage ages ago, I just didn't get about to snapping pictures until now.
Pictures of everything I've got painted up for them are now on the Red Devils page.
German Colonel killed by Soviet AssassinsSat, 01 Mar 2008 11:53:44 GMT
Another loss for the Wehrmacht as the Glorious Red Army of The Soviet Union drive on towards Berlin.
Yep, Zak drove my forces out from their defended position and chased down the German Officer he was sent to assassinate. A Marxist Marksman finally shooting him dead as he hid in the ruins of an old farmhouse.
I was planning to take lots of pictures and post a nice battle report on the Lead Adventure Forum, but as usual once the action got going the camera was soon forgotten.
My troops managed to shoot at and suppress the Communists a few times, but didn't seem able to actually wound anyone, they must have been using Schindler brand ammo.
More SOE AgentsTue, 12 Feb 2008 12:46:41 GMT
A pair of new SOE agents ready for Pulp Adventures.
As ever, the SOE can also be Torchwood or MI13, depending on the game.
